Educators seek out opportunities for leadership to support student empowerment and success and to improve teaching and learning.
An educator is a leader in the classroom by setting an example of what it means to be a positive role model and providing guidance to students. They provide support and encouragement to help students reach their academic goals and foster a safe learning environment. They also ensure that their students are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed. Below you will find some of the tools I love to use while leading my students.
Using google for education allows me to let students lead
With Google for Education, I am able to empower students to create resumes, cover letters, and applications on their own. As a result of the program's ability to share and collaborate on documents, I can allow them to make their own while correcting things along the way instead of just doing it for them. This collaboration on resume can also be done in Canva. Students tend to prefer their creative layouts over Google Docs and I can still edit behind or along side them.
Google docs still gets the job doneGoogle Docs was used to create this fun file! Keeping up with programs is important to me, even if they aren't always the best. In the classroom, Google Docs is often regarded as the lowest of the low when it comes to designing, but as a teacher, it is imperative that I teach and use these programs.

One stop shop for all your important websites
In my role as the leader of the class, I am able to provide my students with a Symbaloo that provides them with direct links to all the sites they will need during their senior year. This way, they can easily access the online resources that are essential for their success. The Symbaloo also serves as a visual reminder of the tasks and goals they need to complete for the year. It gives them a sense of direction and structure, which is key for their academic growth.
Module 10: Using Online Tools
Learning to mindfully lead students
As part of my Mindful Leadership course at Athens State University, I am reading Finding the Space to Leader by Janice Marturano. During this course, I have learned how to lead, how to teach others to lead, and how to lead when you are not in a leadership position. Teachers play a significant role in shaping the future of their students, so it's important for them to be leaders in the classroom. In addition to educating students academically, teachers can also help them develop important life skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork, and leadership. As a leader in the classroom, teachers can model these skills and behaviors for their students, creating a learning environment that fosters personal growth and development.
