Congratulations, your student is now a high school senior! This is a year of many significant milestones and decisions, so it’s wise to be prepared and know what to expect. College Applications and Admissions During your student's senior year, college applications and admissions should be one of your main concerns. Make sure your student meets all of the requirements for admission by researching possible colleges and universities early on. Many colleges have application deadlines in the fall or winter, so it’s important to start the application process early and stay organized. Scholarships Students should not only apply to colleges, but also look into scholarship and financial aid opportunities. I will attach a link to my Symbaloo that lists the colleges in our area as well as scholarship websites. I will also send you scholarships as they become available. Financial Aid It is now a graduation requirement for your student to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. If your family chooses not to you will have to sign a waiver that I can provide you. Financial aid can be quite tricky so please contact me if you would like to set up an appointment. Testing If you or your child is not happy with their ACT score they should not wait until the last minute to take action. There are only so many times the test is offered before some early deadlines. Senior Activities and Graduation Senior year is also a time for many fun activities and traditions, like prom, senior trips, and graduation ceremonies. Be sure to stay informed about these events and any deadlines or requirements associated with them. Information will be sent home with your student, emailed, and included in a senior group reminder. Make sure you have signed up for all of them. Senior year is an exciting time filled with many opportunities and decisions. As a parent, it’s important to be supportive and stay involved in your student's education and future plans. Encourage your student to stay organized, prioritize their goals, and take advantage of all the resources available to them. With your support and guidance, your student can make the most of their senior year and prepare for a successful future. I can't wait to see what the year holds!
